Cookie Policy

Scuba Life uses cookies and similar technologies on www.scubalife.net to run your account, cart, checkout, and dive training experience. This policy explains what we use, why, and how you can control them.

Effective date: May 24, 2026

This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect and use personal information overall, including your California privacy rights, and our Terms of Service, which govern courses, trips, and website use.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember you, keep you signed in, and support security and basic features. We also use similar technologies such as browser local storage and session storage for some features on www.scubalife.net.

2. How Scuba Life uses cookies

We use cookies and similar storage to operate Scuba Life services for customers in Orange, Los Angeles & Ventura Counties, California, United States, including:

  • Signing in and keeping your diver account session active (NextAuth).
  • Protecting routes that require login, such as booking, cart checkout, messaging, and your account area.
  • Remembering items in your cart and course booking context while you browse.
  • Saving delivery details for print-on-demand shop orders so checkout is smoother.
  • Storing temporary booking or login redirect paths (for example, returning you to a course or trip after sign-in).
  • Supporting live messaging and notifications connected to your account.
  • Maintaining site security and preventing misuse.

We do not use cookies on this site for third-party advertising networks or cross-site tracking for ads. We do not currently use Google Analytics or similar marketing analytics cookies on the public website.

3. Types of cookies we use

Strictly necessary — Required for the site to work. These include session and authentication cookies so you can log in, access your cart, complete bookings, and use protected pages. Without them, core features will not function.

Functional — Help us remember choices and improve your experience, such as shipping address details for Gelato merchandise or course form progress stored locally in your browser.

Third-party (service providers) — When you pay, you may be redirected to Stripe to complete checkout securely. Stripe may set its own cookies on their domain under their privacy policy. Social links on our site (for example, Facebook or Instagram) open third-party sites that may use their own cookies if you visit them.

4. Local and session storage

In addition to cookies, our website stores some data in your browser locally, for example:

  • Cart and course booking metadata (such as selected schedules and form titles).
  • Gelato shipping address details to pre-fill delivery fields at checkout.
  • Redirect path after login so you return to the page you were viewing.
  • OTP or sign-up flow helpers during account creation.

You can clear this data by clearing your browser site data for www.scubalife.net. Doing so may sign you out or remove saved cart and form progress.

5. How long cookies last

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies (such as sign-in session cookies from NextAuth) may remain for a set period so you stay logged in until they expire or you sign out. Exact duration depends on your browser and our authentication settings.

6. Your choices and controls

You can manage cookies and site data in several ways:

  • Browser settings — block or delete cookies for all sites or only for scubalife.net.
  • Sign out — ends your authenticated session on our site.
  • Clear site data — removes local storage used for cart, shipping, and form helpers.
  • Do Not Track — some browsers send a DNT signal; we do not respond to DNT with a separate tracking program because we do not run ad-tracking cookies on this site.

If you disable strictly necessary cookies, you may not be able to log in, book courses or trips, use the cart, or access your account.

7. California residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), information collected through cookies may be considered personal information. California residents may have rights to know, access, delete, and correct personal information, and to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information.

For details and how to submit a request, see our Privacy Policy — Your California privacy rights.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change site features, technology, or legal requirements. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after updates means you accept the revised policy.
