Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of www.scubalife.net and your relationship with Scuba Life when you browse our site, create an account, enroll in scuba courses, book dive trips, purchase gear, or use related services in Orange, Los Angeles & Ventura Counties, California, United States.

Effective date: May 24, 2026

Scuba diving and related activities involve inherent risks. By using our website or purchasing our services, you agree to these Terms. Course and trip bookings also require separate liability releases, medical questionnaires, and agency standards acknowledgements. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal information and our Cookie Policy for site cookies.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Scuba Life ("Scuba Life," "we," "us," or "our"). They apply when you access www.scubalife.net, create or use a customer account, enroll in training, register for trips, place shop orders, submit dive forms, or otherwise interact with our services.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our website or services. If you are using the site on behalf of a minor or another person, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on their behalf.

2. Our services

Scuba Life provides scuba diving education, guided and group dive trips, equipment sales, and related support for customers in Orange, Los Angeles & Ventura Counties, California, United States. Services may include:

  • Recreational scuba courses and continuing education (for example Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, and specialties).
  • Weekend and multi day dive trips, including Catalina Island packages and liveaboard style expeditions when offered.
  • Online and in person retail, including print on demand merchandise where available.
  • Customer accounts, messaging, required dive forms, and trip or course coordination.

Descriptions on our website are for general information. Specific dates, prices, inclusions, deposits, and cancellation rules for a course or trip are shown on the listing you book and in your confirmation. If a listing conflicts with this page, the listing and confirmation control for that purchase.

3. Eligibility, fitness, and medical requirements

Scuba training and diving are physically demanding activities conducted in water. You must meet applicable training agency standards, age limits, and swim or water comfort requirements for each program.

  • You must complete required medical questionnaires honestly. Some answers require physician approval before in water training.
  • You must not dive or train while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or conditions that make diving unsafe.
  • You are responsible for disclosing health changes before any in water session.
  • Junior or youth programs, when offered, follow agency age rules and may require parent or guardian consent.

We may refuse or pause service if we reasonably believe you do not meet medical, fitness, or safety requirements, or if required forms are incomplete or unsigned.

4. Accounts and website use

Some features require a customer account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep login credentials confidential, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.

You agree not to:

  • Use the site for unlawful purposes or to harass others.
  • Attempt to breach security, scrape data without permission, or interfere with site operation.
  • Submit false bookings, fraudulent payments, or misleading form information.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your certification level or experience.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or pose a safety or fraud risk.

5. Course enrollment and training

Course enrollment is subject to availability, instructor scheduling, and completion of prerequisites (for example Advanced Open Water before Rescue Diver, or current CPR and first aid for Rescue).

  • Tuition and inclusions are described on the live course page at the time you enroll. E learning, pool sessions, ocean dives, ferry, hotel, and rental gear may be bundled differently per course.
  • You must complete assigned e learning or academics before scheduled water sessions unless your instructor approves otherwise.
  • Missed sessions, no shows, or failure to meet skill standards may require additional fees or rescheduling at our discretion.
  • Certification is issued only when you meet all skill and knowledge requirements of the training agency and instructor.
  • Agency standards (such as PADI) govern training content. We are an independent training provider and do not guarantee employment or specific dive site outcomes.

Separate liability releases, standards of practice acknowledgements, and equipment records are required for training and must be signed before participation.

6. Trips, packages, and travel

Dive trips and packages (including Catalina weekends and liveaboard charters) involve third party operators, ferries, hotels, boats, and weather dependent schedules.

  • Trip listings state what is included (for example ferry, shared hotel room, number of nights). Rooming is often shared unless you arrange otherwise through us in advance.
  • Some packages are non refundable after hotel or ferry inventory is confirmed. Read the specific trip page before payment.
  • Departures, dive sites, and schedules may change for safety, weather, mechanical issues, or park authority rules. Flexibility is part of ocean travel.
  • You are responsible for valid travel documents, waivers, and gear appropriate for conditions (for example thick wetsuit for cool Pacific water).
  • Liveaboard and remote destinations may have additional park fees, port fees, or operator policies stated on the trip listing.

Certified diver trips assume you hold appropriate certification and experience for the planned diving. We may deny boarding or diving if we reasonably believe conditions exceed your training or fitness.

7. Shop orders and merchandise

Shop purchases are subject to product availability, displayed prices at checkout, and shipping terms for physical goods. Print on demand items may ship directly from fulfillment partners.

  • You are responsible for accurate shipping addresses and order details.
  • Title and risk of loss for shipped goods pass according to carrier terms once handed to the shipper.
  • Returns or exchanges for retail items follow the policy stated at purchase or on the product page when applicable.
  • Dive life support equipment should be serviced and inspected per manufacturer guidance. We are not responsible for misuse or improper maintenance after sale.

8. Payments, pricing, and refunds

Prices are shown in United States dollars unless stated otherwise. Payment processing may be handled by third parties such as Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

  • Deposits, payment plans, and balance due dates are defined on the course or trip you book.
  • Failure to pay balances by stated deadlines may result in cancellation without refund of amounts already applied to non refundable inventory.
  • Refunds, when offered, follow the cancellation policy on the specific listing. General marketing pages are overviews only.
  • Chargebacks filed without contacting us first to resolve a dispute may result in account suspension.

9. Cancellations, rescheduling, and force majeure

You should request changes or cancellations as early as possible. Late changes may not be possible once ferries, hotels, boats, or instructor time are committed.

We are not liable for delays or cancellations caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, government orders, ferry or boat cancellations, or equipment failure on third party vessels. When a trip is canceled by us for safety or operator reasons, we will work in good faith on rescheduling or credit according to the trip policy, but we cannot guarantee identical dates or pricing.

10. Assumption of risk and releases

Scuba diving, breath hold activities, boat travel, and related training involve serious risks, including injury or death. You voluntarily assume those risks when you participate.

In addition to these Terms, you must sign activity specific liability releases, medical statements, and standards documents required for your course or trip. Those documents are part of your enrollment and may limit our liability to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms replaces careful judgment, buddy awareness, or following instructor and captain directions during training and dives.

11. Photos, video, and testimonials

We may photograph or record training and group events for safety, instruction, or marketing. By participating in group activities, you grant us a non exclusive right to use images or clips that include you in website, social, and promotional materials unless you notify us in writing before the event that you opt out of identifiable use.

Do not share other customers' personal information or private form data without permission.

12. Conduct toward staff, students, and partners

We expect respectful behavior toward instructors, boat crews, shop staff, and other divers. Harassment, discrimination, intoxication, or reckless conduct may result in removal from a course or trip without refund.

13. Third party services

Our website and operations rely on third parties, including payment processors, hosting providers, training agencies, ferries, hotels, charter boats, and manufacturers. Their terms and policies also apply where relevant.

We are not responsible for acts or omissions of third parties outside our reasonable control, but we choose partners we believe operate professionally.

14. Intellectual property

15. Disclaimers

Our website and services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non infringement where allowed.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted website access, specific marine life encounters, certification on a fixed timeline if skills are not met, or particular weather or visibility on any dive.

16. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by California law, Scuba Life and our owners, instructors, employees, and agents are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or participation in our services.

Our total liability for any claim related to a specific course, trip, or shop order is limited to the amount you paid us for that course, trip, or order, except where law does not allow such limitation.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those cases, our liability is limited to the minimum permitted by law.

17. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Scuba Life and our personnel from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your negligence, your misuse of the site, or your violation of law or third party rights, except to the extent caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or our services shall be brought in state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

Before filing suit, you agree to contact us at scubastevenar@gmail.com and allow a reasonable period to resolve the issue informally.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised. Material changes may be noted on the website. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
