International Liveaboard Overview

Liveaboards keep you on the boat for multi-day diving in remote areas. This overview explains what they are, who they suit, and how Scuba Life organizes charters when they are available. Pricing and cabin availability are on each trip listing under Trips.

International liveaboard scuba diving with Scuba Life

What Are Liveaboards?

Liveaboards are dive trips where you stay on a boat for the duration of the trip instead of a shore-based hotel. The boat serves as your transportation, accommodation, and dive platform, moving you between dive sites over several days.

You wake up at the dive location, gear up on deck, and step directly into the water. Between dives, you eat, rest, and travel to the next site while staying on board.

Liveaboards are designed for divers who want multiple days of diving in more remote or hard-to-reach locations, often with higher dive frequency and less travel downtime.

Who Is It For?

Liveaboard trips are best for certified divers who want to maximize dive time over multiple days and access sites that are harder to reach from shore.

They're a great fit if you're comfortable spending extended time on a boat, diving several times a day, and living in a shared, close-knit group environment.

They are less ideal for brand-new divers, anyone prone to seasickness, or travelers who prefer land-based comfort and flexible daily schedules.

How Scuba Life Fits In

Scuba Life trains divers locally, runs Catalina Weekends, and organizes liveaboard trips when charters are available. We partner with established operators and vessels so our community can travel together with support from home.

This page is an overview only and does not include pricing or cabin availability. When a liveaboard charter is open, full details, booking steps, and terms are listed on the specific trip page under Trips on our website.

Planning and Preparation

Liveaboard operators require signed waivers, travel paperwork, and valid documentation for any countries you are visiting. Missing paperwork can result in not being allowed to board, so review all requirements early.

There are often park and port fees in addition to cabin packages. These are always listed clearly on the specific trip page when you are reviewing a departure and are usually paid directly to the boat, though in some cases they may be collected by us. These are pass-through pricing only and are not marked up.

If you're not sure whether a liveaboard is right for you, contact us. We're happy to talk through experience level, gear, and how our trips work before you commit.
